RECREATIONAL SERVICES OPERA CO was founded in 2010 by composer-performer Steve Gruzas Potter and writer-dramaturg Kélina Gotman and was active through 2016.
RECREATIONAL SERVICES ART CHOIR began in 2025, facilitated by Steve Gruzas Potter.
RECREATIONAL SERVICES fuses music, movement, theater, poetry, and cultural theory into visceral and mind-expanding performances and workshop-playshops for anyone and everyone. Like the Dadas, Hugo Ball and Emmy Hennings, we are critical of our governments for having initiated a number of wars and critical of our educational institutions for having buried humanities thought and artistic creation underneath layers of administrative bullsh*t (see ADORENOSTORIES). We aim to affirm life through creative modalities that are both musical and theatrical – as well as philosophical, chaotic & heartfelt. We like art that gives its recipients something to work on, that enriches the life of the mind, and that in so doing builds a world.
