RECREATIONAL SERVICES OPERA CO was founded in 2010 by composer-performer Steve Potter and writer-dramaturg Kélina Gotman and was active through 2016. In 2025 RECREATIONAL SERVICES ART CHOIR began as a new project led by Steve, with links to the earlier collaboration.
RECREATIONAL SERVICES fuses music, movement, theater, poetry, and cultural theory into visceral and mind-expanding performances and workshop-playshops for anyone and everyone. Like the Dadas, Hugo Ball and Emmy Hennings, we are critical of our governments for having initiated a number of wars. We aim to affirm life through amateur & non-amateur choirs and ensembles – philosophically, chaotically, and with all of our hearts. To cultivate the life of the mind through art, and in so doing to build a world.
